ABBA Athletics' mission is to use sports structured activities to promote Academic Brilliance to Better Achievement; by applying principle-centered leadership and sportsmanship skills for the enhancement of citizens in a global society
This is a comprehensive sports program created to support the needs of inner-city youth. The support provides positive youth development in education, character development, health and fitness, and employment. ABBA will serve children in the city's core regardless of age, race, gender, family composition, income or community. This comprehensive program will promote balance that will help in life choices. It will act as a springboard for students to learn their individual strengths.
Clinical studies show that sports and recreational programs can help youth establish lifelong, healthy, physical activity patterns. According to the President's Council on Physical Fitness, regular physical activity can ward off life-threatening diseases, such as: reducing the rise of childhood obesity, feelings of depression and anxiety, and build and maintain healthy bones, muscles, and joints.
The program is designed to support each student through the primary, intermediate, and junior high levels. ABBA Athletics will provide support with mentoring, tutoring, and eventually job internships. Our goal to provide a structured activity that will occupy the time of students who might otherwise drift into problem behaviors.
